 KARACHI: Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haq has said that an agreement has been signed with Google for 45,000 scholarships which will increase to 450,000 next year.



 At least 40 percent of Google's scholarships will go to women, the state news agency reported.



 He said this while addressing the Startups for Industries and IT Exports Conference at the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) here on Friday.



 The federal minister said that the Google company had previously given only 15,000 scholarships last year, but they were increased after consultation.



 Federal IT Minister said that a building for gaming and animation has been constructed at NED University at a cost of 1.6 million dollars, for further promotion and development of this industry.



 Kati Deputy Patron Zubair Chhaya, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Senior Vice President Nighat Awan, Standing Committee Chairperson Maheen Salman, Ex-President Salim-ul-Zaman, Masood Naqi, Razzaq Hashim Paracha, Ehteshamuddin, experts from universities, National Incubation Centers and other dignitaries participated.  of  A large number of students, teachers and start-ups participated in the event.



 Federal Minister Aminul Haq further said that the Ministry of IT is working on the vision of 2050, the investment in Pakistan by 2020 was 75 million dollars which increased to 373 million dollars by 2021.  On duty, he said that the mobile has been decommissioned from March 30.



 The Federal Minister of IT said that when he assumed the ministry, he immediately made a mobile phone manufacturing policy so that the mobile phone manufacturing industry could be established in the country, thus the production of mobile phones was started within a few months.



 Syed Aminul Haque added that when he took over the IT ministry, five incubation centers were functioning in the major cities of the country, which have now been increased to eight in three years.  He said that our focus is on promoting startups, gaming and animation in the country.



 Earlier, the former chairman of Kati, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, said that entrepreneurs and startups are working very hard, but today startups do not need huge investment.



 He said that research and development has an important role in IT.  Right now startups are doing a great job which is needed in the industry.



 Zubair Chhaya, Deputy Patron of Kati, said that when Federal Minister Aminul Haq assumed his office, IT exports were at the level of 1 billion dollars, but at the end of the last financial year, exports of 2.6 billion dollars were recorded.



 He said that it is gratifying that Pakistan's IT exports have increased and the neighboring country's exports last year were 149 billion dollars.



 Mahin Salman said in his address that efforts are being made to develop such a curriculum in professional educational institutions, which is needed in the industry.  Earlier people used to get a large number of degrees but they did not get jobs.  Now, in consultation with the industry, efforts are being made to provide professional training according to the current needs.



 He added that the startups that exist today were only last year in the form of projects that have successfully launched today.



 Nighat Awan, senior vice-president of Kati, while speaking on the occasion, called for the abolition of duty on machinery and products used in the IT sector so that the sector can expand further in the country.
